The “simple” understanding of scientific content is not sufficient for scientific literacy, in order for someone to be considered scientifically literate.
People must actually be able to use scientific knowledge to help them make informed decisions about issues that affect their lives and the world in general. Science can be divided into three interrelated parts:
1. Science as a body of knowledge.
2. Strategies for the development of scientific knowledge.
3. The Nature of Science.
